Cargo Cults

There are people in this world who hold as their gods people who actually exist today and try to replicate conditions to get those people to come back. Is this special or is it just the reincarnation of something we’ve been doing for millennia?

Many people hear about the practices of so called cargo cults and find their practices to be beyond reason and completely absurd. However, if we look at some of our own, more accepted religious practices, there are at least some ways that this sort of thing is only different because of how close it is in proximity to our own time. What we attempt to explore in this episode is first the known history of some of these groups of people, their practices and beliefs, and then if they have a place in our society, and finally if their practices are really so absurdly different from our own.
