We can all agree that drunk driving is dangerous. However, when a person who has been drinking is arrested without having gotten into an accident or damaged someone else’s property, are we getting into the realm of prosecuting future crime? What degree of future crime is it acceptable to pursue, and if your answer is none because you can’t know what someone will do in the future, then can you really argue that drunk driving should be illegal? Perhaps it should only be prosecuted once damage has occurred due to the person’s inebriated state. Join the SPP team as they try to hash out this tricky topic?
