L’Etat c’est moi: What is an Executive Order

Seriously though, what is an executive order?

The term gets bandied about as if it’s easily defined and understood, but when you actually ask someone what it is, more often than not it seems, the answer embodies some form of an idea that it’s a way for the president operate as though they’re the whole of the state and get what they want when Congress won’t give it to them. In this episode, we seek to clearly define what executive orders are, how they can be properly applied, and how they’ve been misused in the past followed by an impromptu game of Legal/Moral.
