For the Greater Good?

What is your moral duty to sacrifice yourself for the greater good of society?

We have been ingrained in the idea that there are certain things a person should do if faced with a situation for the simple reason that the action would benefit society as a whole more than their inaction. In this week’s episode, we consider the questions of both whether a person is morally obligated to any task at all, and what constitutes the greater good. We explore the topic from several perspectives, but with special consideration for one of our recently favorite philosophers, Immanuel Kant.
