Frege-Geach Problem

Following last week’s episode on non-cognitivism, let’s take a look at one of the most prevalent rebuts to that theory.

As a refresher, in non-cognitivism the idea is that ethical statements hold no truth value. As a retort, those who subscribe to the Frege-Geach problem claim that when an ethical statement is embedded with another ethical statement it creates a logical tree that can hold truth value. It sounds like a mess, but grab a drink, have a seat, and let us unpack it for you.
