Superman Kant Kill

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a deontological argument!

Coming from the familiar understanding of Superman and his moral dilemma, the Six Pack Philosophy team attempts to explain the philosophical approach to ethics referred to as deontology. Philosophers have long attempted to figure out a one size fits all solution to ethical dilemmas, and have yet to find one. However, in this episode we explore the roots of deontology, the tests to determine if an action is deontologically pure, the arguments against this line of reasoning, and adaptations made to it later.

Just when I thought I couldn’t enjoy this show anymore, ya’ll brought out the comic book references! I think many people sell comic books short on their “Value”, but I know I learned more about accepting others from X-Men then I learned in any public school. I’ve been really enjoying these heavily philosophical episodes such as this and the your life doesn’t matter episode. Most of the time when I listen to someone talk about philosophy on a podcast they try to sound as if they have all the answers, and I appreciate how ya’ll will admit to now knowing all the answers. Hearing ya’ll work through each subject is not only entertaining but thought provoking.

Thanks for the kudos! We’ve been enjoying doing the deep episodes too and are glad to hear at least someone is getting something out of it. Hope to hear from you again.
