Territorial Reserve Bourbon Barrel Aged Barley Wine – Coop Ale Works 4.5

Our rating: 4.5

In this week’s episode, the Six Pack Team cracks open a bomber of Territorial Reserve Bourbon Barrel Aged Barley Wine by Coop Ale Works in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Ho-ly crap, you guys! It’s been a *really* long time since we’ve had a beer this good on the show. Rich and creamy with a fruity tartness, this brew managed to impress all the way around. Probably the worst thing about this beer was that the ABV was so high and that ding isn’t even for the reason you’d expect. Clocking in at over 11% you would expect the alcohol in this brew to knock your socks off, but it doesn’t. Don’t get me wrong, you can definitely tell it’s a high ABV brew, but it’s not overbearing. Instead what you find is that because this barley wine is so potent, you don’t get to drink nearly as much as you would like unless you just don’t care how you feel the next day.
