Ethics of Time Travel

Let’s step into the realm of sci-fi for a moment to discuss time travel.

I promise we’re not jumping ship with the focus of the show on this one, so just hang with me here. Lots of books, movies, graphic novels, and radio shows have an element of time travel in them, but an element that often seems to be overlooked is the ethics of utilizing time travel technology in these stories. While this is currently relegated to the realm of fiction, there are people who genuinely believe that we will develop that technology at some point, and whether they’re right or wrong, we thought it would be fun to take a look at what sort of ethical questions we might face if and when the ability to time travel becomes a reality. Should we do it at all? If we do, are there rules that should be applied? Who gets that power? Is it distributed for access by everyone or are there just a select few who get to wield that immense power? Strap in for this one because we’ve installed the flux capacitor and we’re taking this episode to 88.
